Paid Family Medical Leave

  • Most PFML benefits are now available. You can create a PFML account and begin your application here. You can apply for these benefits by creating a PFML account.
  • If you are applying for military-related paid family leave benefits, or if you are applying for paid family or medical leave benefits and you are currently self-employed or unemployed, please call the Department's Contact Center at (833) 344-7365 to begin your application.

  • You may find it helpful to review our PFML Application Guide before beginning your application. It will give you an idea of how the process will work, and what documents and information you will be asked to provide.
  • Employee must notify employer at least 30 days before leave begins
  • Employee can submit application 60 days before leave begins
  • Employee must provide:
    • Proof of identity via scanned COLOR copies
    • Required for employee and family member health condition
    • MA Driver’s License, unexpired passport, unexpired Permanent Resident Card Employment Authorization Document (EAD), foreign passport AND work visa
